Designed in South Africa for the local market, the new Ford Bantam is a light utility vehicle that has long been popular on farms and in the cities for light cargo transportation. Now after celebrating their 25th birthday with a facelift, new Bantam bakkies maintain their place in the recreational market as one of the best bargains around. The new Ford Everest SUV packs three rows of flexible seating into one of the most spacious and comfortable interiors in the Ford range. Its three model variations all have 3.0-litre turbodiesel engines, but vary in 2x4 and 4x4 capacity, as well as manual or automatic transmissions. Available in the Fiesta Ambiente, Trend and Titanium trims, these “global” compact cars were designed to be sold in the same form in over 130 countries. With a youthful and playful appearance, the new Ford Fiesta appeals to young families and city drivers, who appreciate its reasonable price tag. The Ford Fiesta interior keeps in tune with its modern exterior, particularly via its cell phone-inspired centre stack, Bluetooth integration, media player connectivity and cools ambient lighting. Equipped with capable 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines and 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine, these sturdy hatchback cars combine ready acceleration with safety, practicality and style; everything a Ford city hatch should be, and more.
 

 
Now in its second generation and entering its third generation in 2011, the iconic Ford Focus is available in a variety of models and trims. The Focus Ambiente is presented in hatchback and sedan, and provides superior drive-quality for a first-time family car. The Ford Focus Si model range is available in three trim alternatives, but overall these models have sportier suspensions as a result of Ford’s double-ball joint rear anti-roll bar, and the legendary control blade independent rear suspension that provides this Focus with razor-sharp handling. At the apex of the Focus range is the Ford Focus ST, which delivers a heart-racing 166kW at 6000rpm via its 2.5-litre DOHC engine with manual six-speed Getrag transmission.
 

 
Available in the Ambiente and Trend trims, the new Ford Ikon is the sedan version of the Ford Fiesta, with emphasis on practicality and fuel economy in a well-equipped overall package. This solid and spacious sedan can deliver a combined consumption of 4.5-litres per 100 kilometres – which is just over 1000 kilometres on a single tank of fuel. The turbocharged 1.4 diesel engine delivers 50kW at 4000rpm, while the 1.6-litre petrol Duratec engines deliver 74kW at 6500rpm. The Ford Ikon has standard interior features such as a CD player with MP3 capability and four speakers, air-conditioning, a trip computer that signifies “distance to empty” in the fuel tank, electric windows and cup holders.
 

 
The new Ford Ranger is available in Single Cab, Super Cab (with an extra-long Styleside bed) and Double Cab options. Emphasis through the Ford Ranger range is on safety: from its carefully predefined crumple ones that absorb crash energy, to supplementary restraint airbags, to Anti-lock Brake Systems, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and an overlapping panel structure. Rugged 2.5-litre common-rail turbodiesel engines are available across the range, with variations in each model type. And Ford has demonstrated that it understands the needs of the modern 4x4 owner by emphasising interior comfort in the Ranger Ford pickup, installing stowage versatility, plush leather interiors, air-conditioning in an ergonomic and insulated cabin.
 

 
New ST cars are developed by Ford’s renowned Team RS, and combine unique styling with superior performance technology to present a range of seriously speedy cars. The Fiesta ST is the ultimate compact performance car with all the trimmings - close-ratio gearbox, low-modified suspension and turbocharged acceleration – delivering 166kW from its 2.5-litre Duratec sports technologies engine. The Ford Focus ST delivers championship handling via its unique rigid chassis, which combines with stiff springs, dampers, anti-roll bars and a low centre of gravity to provide real sport driving at its most exciting. The SUV in the new ST range consists of the AWD Ford Territory ST, which is famous for its ability to handle like a car, and yet accelerate like a 4x4, particularly due to its 245kW, 4.0-litre DOHC turbo engine.
