Seldom does physical appearance so accurately represent the intention of a vehicle. The Everest is large and dominating, with its bulging bonnet, extended cab and rounded corners further adding to its aggressive appeal. The Everest is available in a wide range of colour options, including Black Mica, Arizona Gold, Winning Blue and Desert Bronze. Buyers can customise the exterior of the vehicle with a bonnet guard, new body cladding, headlamp guards, a roof rack tray or a single barrel chrome exhaust trim.
The interior of the Ford Everest is equally versatile. Of particular interest is the ample storage space. Its vast cabin can seat 7 people comfortably (with plenty of room for those with long legs), while reclining seats create room for oddly shaped cargo, luggage or equipment.
An additional touch of luxury is added by the inclusion of genuine leather seats. Music lovers will appreciate the variety of audio options, with an iPod dock and six-CD front loader that is MP3 compatible. Music can be enjoyed throughout the vehicle as six speakers are strategically placed around the cabin to ensure that everyone received the same level of audio.
The new Ford Everest is available in three different models:
- Everest 3.0TDCi 4x2 XLT: this rear-wheel drive vehicle is ideal for city dwellers who enjoy periodic journeys away from the “concrete jungle”.
- Everest 3.0TDCi 4x4 XLT: fitted with four-wheel drive, this Everest model is equally capable of cruising along city streets, dirt roads and uneven terrain.
- Everest 3.0TDCi 4x4 LTD A/T: this Everest model differs from the previous two in that it is equipped with a five-gear automatic transmission instead of the standard manual transmission.
Under the bonnet is a powerful three-litre Duratorq TDCi engine, which is capable of producing 115kW of power and 380Nm of torque at 1 800 revs per minute. Advanced technology ensures that gear changes are effectively and evenly distributed across all four wheels simultaneously.
When designing the Everest, Ford’s engineers also paid special attention to safety features because while the Everest is one of the most capable vehicles currently on the market, one should always be prepared. The exterior shell is extremely durable and thanks to the inclusion of side impact beams is capable of absorbing most knocks and bumps. Control and handling are enhanced by an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Both of these features are instrumental in keeping the Everest firmly on the road and come into play when sudden braking is required.
